Man spürt hier in der Gegend bereits sehr deutlich, dass der Sommer dem Ende zu geht. Und ich glaube, es ist gut, wenn ich mich ausreichend mit warmer Wolle versorge, bevor dann Herbst und Winter vor der Tür stehen. Nicht wahr? Man kann sich ja nicht darauf verlassen, dass das Ganze so mild abläuft wie letztes Jahr. Es könnte ja gut sein, dass mal wieder Schnee und Minusgrade anstehen (ich würde mich freuen!).
Alledings ist dieser Loop-Schal bzw. Cowl nicht aufgrund der Wetterlage entstanden, sondern weil ich mich von meiner (neuen) Lieblingsserie Outlander inspirieren lassen habe. Bisher läuft sie ja noch nicht im deutschen Fernsehen, aber 2015 wird sie auf VOX ausgestrahlt werden. (Die Frage ist aber, ob die Serie nicht an Wert einbüßen wird, wenn sie deutsch synchronisiert wurde. Denn - schließlich geht es da um raubeinige Schotten mit breitem Akzent, die sich außerdem die Hälfte der Zeit Gälisch zurufen... nun ja.)
Ich schaue eigentlich nicht viel fern, und außer "Der Doktor und das liebe Vieh" und "Vampire Diaries" habe ich keine bestimmte Serie, von der ich Fan wäre. Outlander hat mich aber überraschend schnell in den Bann gezogen, was wohl daran liegt, dass ich die Bücher dazu gelesen habe, und finde, dass die Charaktere extrem gut gecastet wurden. Die Serie bietet alles, was man sich als Zuschauer wünschen kann: gefilmt wurde im echten Schottland, die Kostüme sind authentisch, es gibt von allem etwas; Schmutz, Blut, Liebe, Humor. Ich mag es! Und - klar, als echte Strickbegeisterte schaut man natürlich auch sofort auf die wollenen Kleidungsstücke, die so getragen werden: Oh, die fingerlosen Handschuhe von Mrs. Fitz könnte man ganz leicht nachstricken. Und der warme Loop von Claire? Den hätte ich gern. Wo bekomme ich so dicke Wolle her? Wie man wohl so ein Cape stricken oder häkeln könnte? Gleich mal nach Mustern im Internet suchen...
So kam es also zu meinem superweichen und warmen Cowl, der meinen Hals jetzt wärmt. Er ist ganz einfach zu stricken:
3 Knäuel Wolle für Nadelstärke 8-9
40 Maschen anschlagen und für 70 cm krausrechts stricken.
Am anderen Ende 40 Maschen aufnehmen, die Arbeit in der Mitte drehen und die Enden zusammenstricken (hierfür braucht man eine dritte Nadel).
Fertig.
It is truely noticable in these parts that the summer is slowly coming to an end. And I think it is a good idea to stock up on warm woolen clothing before autumn and winter are at our doorstep.
Don't you think? I mean we can't hope for the dark season to be as mild as last year's and it is well possible that we might get minus degrees and snow this time round (and I would be happy for it).
This cowl wasn't actually inspired by the changing weather but by my new favourite series OUTLANDER. So far it isn't shown on German television, and I am not entirely sure if it's a good idea if they do so. In Germany films are dubbed with different voices in German language and imagine what that will do in this case? Of course, the lovely broad Scotish accent will dissapear and I wonder how they will handle all the gaelic that is spoken... well.
Anyway, I don't watch a lot of television and apart from "All creatures great and small" and "Vampire Diaries" I am not a fan of any series. But OUTLANDER put me under a spell immediately - most likely because I read and loved the books of Diana Gabaldon, and think that the characters are cast extremely well. Also the programme offers everything you could wish for: it was filmed in real Scotland, the costumes are very authentic and there is dirt, blood, love, humor. I like it!
And - you see - as an enthusiastic knitter one also examines closely the woolen clothing (as one does!) that the actors are wearing: oh, those fingerlesse mittens Mrs Fitz is wearing could be easily knit! And Claire's lovely, warm cowl? I would love to have one like that! Where could I get really thick wool...? And all those beautiful capelets. I should search on the internet for patterns and knit or crochet one!
So, this is why I have a super-soft, alpaca cowl now. It is very easy to make:
3 balls wool for needle-size 8-9 (US 11 - 13)
Cast on 40 stitches and knit garter stitch for 70 cm (28 inches). Cast on 40 stichtes on the other end, twist your work in the middle and knit both ends together (you need a third needle for this).
Ready to wear!
